In 1998, Hold You Tight won the FIPRESCI Prize - Special Mention and Silver Screen Award for Best Actor at the Singapore International Film Festival, the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Alfred Bauer Award and Teddy Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. The following year, it won the Award of the Pestalozzi Children's Village Foundation at the Fribourg International Film Festival and the Film of Merit award at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards.[1]
