HMS America was a 64-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 5 August 1777 at Deptford.

On 5 September 1781, she took part in the Battle of the Chesapeake, and 1795 she was part of the British fleet at the Battle of Muizenberg.

From 1800 she served as a prison ship, and was broken up in 1807.
