Description
English: View of Leander class Light Cruiser, HMNZS Achilles who served with the British Home Fleet as HMS Achilles until she was transferred to the en:New Zealand Division on 24 March 1936. She took part in the en:Battle of the River Plate against the German pocket ship Panzerschiffe Admiral where 4 of her crew were killed. HMNZS was decommissioned on 17 September 1946 and returned to the en:Royal Navy. She was sold to India on 5 July 1948, and renamed Delhi before being decommissioned by the Indian Army on 30 June 1978.
