Hitoshi Doi

Hitoshi Doi (土井仁志 Doi Hitoshi?) was born October 17, 1963 in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.[1] Doi was a baseball player in Japan, winning several awards during his career. He also runs an English language anime and seiyū information website, which was established on June 10, 1994.[1].

Doi's baseball career began in 1989, and he has won awards[clarify] in 1992, 2001, and 2002.
[edit] Personal website and Seiyū Database
Doi's personal website contains over 9,4000 individual pages, and he is considered to be one of the most well-known fans of anime and seiyū (voice actors) in the English-speaking world.[1][2] In addition to personal information, his views on various anime and manga series, and information on his hobbies, Doi's site contains a massive "Seiyū Database". In 2001, the database contained over 50,000 entries in 2001[3], and it is considered by anime fans to be a definitive source of seiyū information.[2]
Hitoshi Doi was interviewed on CBC's Undercurrents, about the otaku culture. The interview premiered November 22, 1996 on CBC.[citation needed]
