[edit] Name change from Phoenix to Arizona

I was under the impression that the name change from "Phoenix" to "Arizona" had nothing to do with the Martin Luther King holiday, but was instead prompted by two factors: one that a business called Phoenix Cardinals, which sold skiing equipment, was already established before the relocation, and the other was objections from the City of Phoenix since they were, technically, playing outside of the city limits in Tempe (and later Glendale). I don't have the references available on those, but they were all over the local media then. Staszu13 15:13, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
