what would be the cost of having a phone in the year 1878?

I think it was something on the order of twenty or thirty dollars a month. Much cheaper than hiring a private telegraphist. Wires to connect to another telephone would be extra, not provided by the telephone company. Jim.henderson 12:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
