Hipperholme

Hipperholme is a village in the Calderdale area of West Yorkshire, England, located between the towns of Halifax and Brighouse. It is located on the busy A58 road and includes Hipperholme Grammar School, a local private school.
Hipperholme is a thriving village with many local shops, and is also home several pubs, including the Whitehall,the Travellers, the Country House, the Hare and Hounds and the White Horse.
Lightcliffe is adjacent to Hipperholme so much so that the boundaries are blurred, some may state that the boundary ends at the doctors surgery, where the names on the addresses change from Lightcliffe to Hipperholme. The local state primary schools Lightcliffe Church of England School and Cliffe Hill School. The Secondary schools are Hipperholme Grammar School (private) and Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School and Sports College (State)(Formerly Eastfield Secondary Modern School until 1985), which is actually in Lightcliffe.
Hipperholme is a crossroads, which makes travel useful. There are frequent bus routes from Hipperholme to Halifax, Brighouse, Leeds and Bradford. There is the Halifax rail line which runs through Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, however a station no longer exists to facilitate the village.
The are a number of large social institutions in Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, including The Old Brodleans Rugby Club, Lightcliffe Golf Club and The Conservative Club.
It is also the home to major employer Crosslee PLC. This company is based on the site of the former Philips electrical factory.
