How does a county have two seats? --radiojon 19:18, 2003 Sep 11 (UTC)
To answer the above (14 months later), it puts a branch of the county courthouse in each. Counties are unimportant in New Hampshire, compared to many states; they have little function, and no territory of their own.
Also, I have differentiated the notes of "East Merrimack," a term which nobody in this area ever uses, and "Pinardville," which is still used informally, as if it were an incorporated community of its own. As you can guess, I live in that part of the county. - DavidWBrooks 16:21, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Same-sex Parent Adoption
The article LGBT rights in New Hampshire states "As of 1999, adoption by same-sex couples was not approved of in four of the state's ten counties: Hillsborough, Merrimack, Grafton and Cheshire." As of October 2007, where does this stand? 24.63.32.154 02:02, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- The source article is dated 2006; the wikipedia article seems to misunderstand it. (1999 is the date of the court decision). I've updated it to 2006, but more recent information would require more research. If you get a chance to do that work, please update the article. - DavidWBrooks 02:06, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
