Talk:Hills District (Sydney)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
most of winston hills is in the city of parramatta.. but there are many other hills such as Rogans, Rouse, Box, McGraths, Seven Hills. and as a part-time resident I don't think that the Hills is particularly affluent, I would use that word to describe the North Shore, or the tiny bit of the district known as Bella Vista. As Baulkham Hills is still a shire (as opposed to a city), half of its land is agricultural.
- I would like to have a more precise geographical definition of the Hills District, if one exists. The article mentions that western parts of Hornsby Shire are part of the Hills District, but that is a little vague. Is Dural, for example, considered part of the Hills District? --Alexxx1 21:57, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

- I agree it should be more precise. I think south-west of Hornsby Shire. Having 'Hill' in a suburb's name does not make it part of the 'Hills District'! Seven Hills definitely isn't. However, I do think the Hills District is relatively affluent - a poorman's North Shore. (Note that the electorates are mostly Liberal). I would include the Epping-Carlingford area, which as stated is part of Parramatta LGA.--Jack Upland 03:23, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
would it be wrong to mention mcmansions?Garrie 05:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Didn't you realise that the federal division of Greenway, housing suburbs like Seven Hills is also a Liberal electorate?
What about everyone who receives the Hills District version of the Yellow Pages and it lists the suburbs of the Hills District on the back. They include: Annangrove (BHSC) Baulkham Hills (BHSC) Beecroft (HSC) Carlingford (HSC, BHSC, PCC) Castle Hill (BHSC, HSC) Cherrybrook (HSC Dural (BHSC, HSC) Eastwood (PCC, RCC) Epping (PCC, BHSC, HSC) Kellyville (BHSC, BCC) Parklea (BCC) Pennant Hills (HSC) Seven Hills (BCC) West Pennant Hills (BHSC, HSC) I don't think the Hills District is specifically restricted to just within Baulkham Hills Shire (a lot of places within BHSC like Wisemans Ferry, Sackville & Maroota wouldn't be classed as being part of the 'Hills District) but it used to describe the hilly area east of Blacktown, north of Parramatta, south of the Macquarie towns and west of the North Shore. So really this includes everywhere from Kings Langley and Glenwood in the extreme east of Blacktown City Council to Winston Hills in the north of Parramatta City Council, Box Hill, Kenthurst, Annangrove, Dural in the north of Baulkham Hills Shire and east to West Pennant Hills.
[edit] List of suburbs in the Hills District
I'm moved this section of text out of the article because I don't really see why this information is being provided twice. Also, what does it mean to say that that the suburbs are 'determined' by their postcode? This information could be retained if clarified and cited. --Alexxx1 (talk/contribs) 08:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
