Hillards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hillards plc was a small supermarket chain from the North of England, bought out in a hostile takeover by Tesco in 1987 for £220m.
Originating in the West Yorkshire town of Cleckheaton, Hillards had 40 stores throughout the North of England. All became Tesco after the take over, although some subsequently have been sold on to third parties, to make way for new, bigger, more modern stores.
