Unfortunately, we do not know exactly who the author of Hikayat Hang Tuah is-the reason being that HHt is meant to be fiction, while the other Hikayats are considered as history. writing fiction during that time would be considered a shame, much like the old chinese author that did not want to admit that he wrote the Justice Bao stories. Kassimk Ahmad wrote that it is possible that there were more than one hand that wrote and compiled the HHT. he stated that during the first part of the HHt, Tuah is described as a great warrior of the sultan, but the in the second half, as a silent sufi.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.95.189.168 (talk • contribs)

[edit] Sejarah Melayu-Revised Edition

"According to the Malay Annals, it was Hang Kasturi that fought with Hang Tuah instead of Hang Jebat." i must add that this story only exists in Windstedt's edition. In the revised edition of the Sejarah Melayu (rightly renamed Sulalatus Salatin-the Lineage of Kings) by A Samad Ahmad, hang Tuah fought against hang jebat, not Kasturi. the reason given was simple: if Tuah was already assumed dead when kasturi rebelled, why did the Sultan not go to Jebat instead and ask him to fight for him? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.95.189.168 (talk • contribs)

He didn't go to Jebat because the Bendahara told the sultan that Tuah was still alive... Besides, the version you stated only exists in A Samad edition. Any particular reason why any of the two editions is the more accurate presentation of what happened?__earth (Talk) 05:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
