Description:Highgate Underground station - abandoned high level platforms This picture was taken from the end of the now abandoned high level platforms at highgate. Originally, a railway line used to run between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace. It was partially converted to electrical operation but the plans were abandoned during the Second World War. The modern station platform buildings were designed by Charles Holden and is probably the best preserved derelict building by this architect.
