Highway 51 is the second road to bear the designation of "Highway 51", with the first being near Orangeville, Ontario. This is a short connector road that served to link Highway 3 to Rondeau Provincial Park. The road was designated as Highway 51 in 1970, and decommissioned in 1997, when Highway 3 between Highway 77 in Leamington and Highway 4 in St. Thomas. In 1997, Chatham-Kent extended the designation of County Road 15 along the entire stretch of former Highway 51.
