Highbury Korfball Club is a friendly, competitive North London based sports club. Whether you're a seasoned korfball pro or an absolute beginner curious to try the game, everybody is welcome to play with us. We have a range of newbies, ex-student korfballers, former National League players, and people who simply want to enjoy exercising every week. Everyone is welcome.
Highbury KC is part of the London & District Korfball Association, soon to be renamed London Korfball Association, and participates in the Indoor League running from October to April. Highbury had a very successful 06/07 season, the 1st team finishing as champions of the London Premier Division and the 2nd team finishing as champions of the London First Division. Both teams have been promoted and will compete in the London First and Second divisions respectively for the 2008/09 season (the London League will be revamped to accommodate the second teams of Mitcham, Trojans, Bec, Nomads and Croydon). The 3rd team also did well in their debut season and we are planning to launch a 4th team for the 2008/09 korfball season.
During the summer months Highbury attends outdoor tournaments around the country and abroad on practically a weekly basis. Tournaments make for great weekends and are a good chance to play outdoors and are always accompanied by social events.
Because korfball is a mixed-sex sport, its social side is enhanced by the fifty-fifty split in male and female players. Forget speed-dating, korfball has it covered! Highbury are a very social korfball club and members regularly organise events in and around London. Previous events have ranged from banger racing to wine tasting.
