Hibbertopterina

The hibbertopterina were a family of large, Eurypterids living during the Devonian and Permian eras, named for palaeontologist S. Hibbert.

They resembled scorpions, but reached up to 1.6 m in length. Species include Hibbertopterus scouleri.
