Description

The view through the rather grubby front window of Tyne and Wear Metro train 4089 as it approaches Heworth station with a Yellow Line service to South Hylton. I think the train on the opposite platform is number 4028 bound for St James via the coast. Heworth is an interchange with bus and national rail services, the latter call at separate platfoms the left of the wall on the left (which is actually a long ramp between platform and street level). Since the extension of the metro to Sunderland in 2002, this station is the only intermediate stop between there and Newcastle for mainline trains.
