[edit] Is Heter meah rabbanim Hebrew?

I noticed that you consider "היתר מאה רבנים" as Hebrew. While it is true that "מאה" is Hebrew; in Aramaic it would be "מאת". But the words "היתר" and "רבנים" to the best of my knowledge are Aramaic and not found in Tanach. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Itzse 00:53, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

The words hetter and rabbanim existed in Mishnaic Hebrew (circa 200 CE), which was highly influenced by Aramaic. The word rabbanim is indeed a loan from Aramaic (the classical Hebrew form is rabbim); I'm not sure about hetter, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was also a loanword. Anyway, the term hetter me'a rabbanim as a whole is clearly in Hebrew, because its syntax is Hebrew. My Aramaic is rather poor, but I think the Aramaic version would be hettera de-me'at rabbanin (התרא דמאת רבנין). DrorK 11:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
