Talk:Hereford (cattle)

[edit] Origins

How can the breed be "originally from Paris, France" and yet at the same time be "originating in cool, moist Britain"? 83.104.249.240 (talk) 14:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merger from Polled Hereford

Since the article states that the breed registry considers Polled Herefords and Herefords the same breed, shouldn't this be merged with Hereford (cattle)? Psyphics 03:47, 6 April 2006 (UTC), fixed wikilink Psyphics 03:18, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

No really sure about that. Many shows still separate the horned and polled breeds and most auctions differentiate them when selling. Polled Herefords also tend to lack some of the muscling of their horned counterparts because they were selected for a secondary trait.

I intend to do this merge unless there are strong objections...?? --Charles (talk) 20:31, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Though I completed the tagging for this merge nomination, I don't see the reason to merge if they are significantly different. --Kevin Murray (talk) 21:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
