Heron Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Heron Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to three-year-old thoroughbreds. It is presently run over a distance of 1 mile 14 yards (1,622 m) at Sandown Park Racecourse but prior to 2005 it was run at Kempton Park over an exact distance of 1 mile (1,609 m). The race takes place annually in late May.
It is sometimes won by subsequent Group 1 winners, such as Among Men, Kalanisi and Proclamation. Other notable horses to have run in the race include Pursuit of Love, who was second in 1992, and Al Moughazel, later re-named Bullish Luck, fourth in 2002.
