Herb Solinsky is a biblical calendar researcher. He is the primary author of "The Calendar God Gave to Moses" which promotes the visual observation of the new crescent Moon to start a Month. According to Solinksy the first month of the year should begin at or after the Vernal equinox.[citation needed] The calendar is primarily used to calculate Holy Days, such as Passover, the Feast of Trumpets, etc.[citation needed] The difference between the calendar promoted by Solinksy and that of Judaism is that the modern Herbrew calendar has been fixed by calculations and postponement rules.[citation needed] The lunisolar calendar promoted by Solinsky differs from the Karaite calendar by not taking into account whether the barley appears early in Israel (such as early March).[citation needed] The lunar-solar caledar is used by Christian and Sacred names groups that observe the Holy Days of Leviticus 23 and also by some Messianic Jews. There has been an updated study on the calendar (dated Feb. 7 2007 )on The Seven Day Week website.[citation needed]
