[edit] "Padangpanjang" or "Padang Panjang" problem and comments
- My Comments
Hello Mr Michael...nice to meet you here on en.wikipedia.
1.Thankyou verymuch for ur attention about the changing i made about the name of padangpanjang.Absolutely you are right...based from the evidence data links that ur gave to me.But let's discuss about it:
- I am a former of Youth ambassador of tourism for padangpanjang city and for west sumatra (minangkabau) province wich was my main duty on 2003 and 2004.The government of padangpanjang city (the "walikota" or head of the city of padangpanjang both with the department of padangpanjang tourism) said to me that the right name for Padang Panjang is "Padangpanjang".This is suitable with bahasa indonesia official rules about "place or city name and naming".The rules said that a city name with two word like Padang panjang should written as "Padangpanjang" (written not separated).
- Thats why when i find padangpanjang is not written as it should be, i personally try to change it, and sometimes it works. But here in Indonesia especially west sumatra minangkabau province the problem is: On some government office the staffs who works to input data to other official media such the official government website and others not obey the bahasa indonesian rules about "the name/naming of place and city with two word", thats why Padang panjang still written apart, not separated. This is a great fault and ashaming fact!.But thats what happens....so when you find in official government and other indonesian government website the name of padangpanjang city is separated, and you follow the rules, you are absolutely right.
The problem is with the geovernment staffs. How ashaming, but this is happens. In Indonesia and west sumatra, most of the people is bilingual, such as minangkabau people use minangkabau language for everyday conversation but use bahasa indonesia for official bussiness conversations (bahasa indonesia is the second language, not native), thats why they knowledge about bahasa indonesia rules of some of them sometimes make we sick.So in next few days i planned to discuss this problem with the government here.Hope we will have solution about this important problem soon.
2.I am very happy to know you (and maybe your indonesian family too) and hope we can be friends in the future....may i?
3.I would like to say thanks to you as u become one of my blog fans.Although until now my blog quality is still poor and need a "profesional touch" ( yes, i realize that) but i will fix it as soon as possible, even here i have a bussy daily activites.
4.I use a picture of "bendi", i have it from your blog.I am sorry that i use ur "bendi" picture on my blog without your permission. So since now i can communicate with you, receives my apology and please give me your permission so i can still use that bendi picture in the future, may i?
