Is the expression "a devil's sonata" a quote from Wieniawski himself, or does it refer to the devil's sonata, or more accurately, Devil's trill by Tartini? If this is the case, its difficulty is almost exclusively in the left-hand technique. The Russian bow grip facilitates pieces with a lot of chords, plus certain bow strokes, but doesn't make much difference in Italian Baroque music. Complainer
