[edit] Cryptologist?

Is there a source (e.g. Bertrand) that specifically states that Bracquenié was a cryptologist? I've wondered about his service specialty. I don't think I've ever seen it unequivocally stated. logologist|Talk 15:52, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

I've seen him referred to as a "cryptanalyst" in this article, as well as in David Kahn's Seizing the Enigma (from index). The problem is that Braqueni is only given an incidental mention, and there's a risk that his exact role might have been fudged a bit -- people do sometimes conflate signals intelligence officers and cryptanalysts. Although David Kahn or Ralph Erskine are less likely than most to do so! — Matt Crypto 16:30, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
