Henry Lannigan

Henry Hayden Lannigan (1863-1930) was the first head basketball coach in the University of Virginia basketball history from 1905-1929. He accumulated a record of 254-95 (.728). During his tenure he improved the track program and introduced boxing and basketball. The current venue used by the Cavalier track & field teams, Lannigan Field, is named in his honor. He is buried in the University of Virginia Cemetery and Columbarium.
