Henry Frederick Compton Cavendish

General Henry Frederick Compton Cavendish (5 November 17895 April 1873) was a British soldier, politician and courtier. He was the third son of George Cavendish, 1st Earl of Burlington and Lady Elizabeth Compton.

In 1812 he entered Parliament for Derby, a seat which he held until 1835. In 1837, he was appointed Chief Equerry and Clerk Marshal to Queen Victoria, but resigned the post in 1841. On June 2, 1853, he was appointed colonel of The Queen's Bays, a post he held until his death.

He married 3 times:

1) to Sarah Fawkener (d. c. November 1817) on October 24, 1811 and had four children:

2) to Frances Susan Lambton (d. 23 November 1840), daughter of William Henry Lambton, on June 16, 1819 and had six children:

  1. Felicia Susan Lygon
  2. Louisa Cockburn (d. 25 April 1869) on 25 June 1863 - the illegitimate daughter of Sir Alexander Cockburn, 12th Baronet
  3. Mary Gregg,

3) to Susanna Emma Byerlie (d. c. 1910) on January 28, 1873, but died two months later.
