Henry Demarest Lloyd

Henry Demarest Lloyd (1847 - 1903) was a 19th century American progressive, and a muckraking journalist. He worked for the Chicago Tribune from 1872 to 1885. He has been called "the father of investigative journalism" for his ground-breaking work. He wrote Story of a Great Monopoly (1881) and Wealth Against Commonwealth (1894) against the Railroads and Standard Oil Company.

Lloyd attended St. Mark's School and Columbia College, followed by Columbia Law School.
