[edit] Biography

[edit] Childhood

Bowman was born on January 10, 1953. He grew up near St. Louis, Missouri, and his father, Walter Bowman, encouraged an interest in firearms from an early age. Henry soon showed amazing, almost superhuman proficiency with firearms, practicing whenever he could find the time. By age 15, when Walter died of cancer, Henry owned an impressive firearms collection, including two anti-tank guns. His father being a military pilot-instructor from World War II, Henry also had extensive experience with piloting many small aircraft.

[edit] Early adult years

Henry was a dedicated student in high school and in college, until a traumatic event changed his life forever. When running on a country road late at night, Henry was robbed, beaten, and sexually assaulted by a rural gang. Henry kept the incident secret for years. After the incident, Henry became overcome with shame, quickly turning into an alcoholic. One of his friends, not knowing of the incident, but seeing the dramatic change in him, helped him put his life back together and shake his addiction.

[edit] Later adult life

Henry finished college and became a geologist and consultant to oil companies. He moved into a large area outside of St. Louis. He began to instruct self defense classes, partly out of a desire to help others avoid attacks like his. When at a gun show in St. Louis with friend Allen Kane, Bowman publicly embarrassed an agent of the BATF, Wilson Blair. One of Blair's men was trying to trick and entrap a fellow firearms dealer. Blair took the offense personally, and began to plan revenge.

[edit] Life as an outlaw

Several years later, Blair and subordinate agents of the BATF plan to frame Henry and his friends as terrorists, smugglers, and counterfeiters. They plan to plant "evidence" when the men are away on vacation. Unbeknownst to Blair, Henry delays his departure and is on a friends' property when the agents arrive. Henry assumes the men are burglars and engages in a gun battle with them, killing all but Blair before he discovers the truth.

Henry realizes that his life has been irrevocably changed. Henry makes Blair record a video tape, Blair confessing his illegal actions. He then kills Blair and disposes of all forensic evidence of the agents' presence. Afterwards, Henry "disposes" of the rest of the BATF agents under Blair, and joins his friends on vacation.

Henry and his closest friends begin to systematically kill BATF agents around the nation, whom Henry views as supporting the infringement of citizen's constitutional rights, and abusing government powers. Simultaneously, Henry releases the video tape of Blair to CNN, which claims that Blair and his companions have had a change of heart, realize what they are doing is wrong, and are now dedicated to killing other BATF agents. Amidst the national search for Blair and company, Bowman continues to rack up the body count.

Unintended Consequences is a work of fiction. The author claims that abuses by BATF and the FBI are realistically depicted.
