Henry Antchouet (born August 2, 1979 in Libreville) is a Gabonese football attacker, regular for the Gabon national football team. Due to his agility, he is nicknamed The Arrow.

He started his career at the age of 15 in local club 105 Libreville, and went on to play for five years in Portuguese clubs, but in the summer of 2005 he was transferred to Deportivo Alavés. In January 2006, Antchouet returned to Portugal on a six-month loan deal with Vitória SC [1].

Antchouet continued his career with Larissa in January 2007, on loan from Alavés, and won the Greek football Cup.

On June 15, 2007, Antchouet was given a two-year ban after testing positive for cocaine. The Hellenic Football Federation said the Gabonese player tested positive in a urine sample taken after the Greek football Cup final. Larissa defeated Panathinaikos FC 2-1, with Antchouet scoring the winner, securing the provincial club a berth in the UEFA Cup.

Antchouet said that it was a trap, as he claimed that a woman dropped cocaine in his drink a week before the game. He also said that he talked with her after the ban and she admitted the fact.

[edit] Trivia

  • Sometimes his name is written Henri instead of Henry, e.g. on his shirt when he was playing for Larissa. However, the name's pronunciation is not affected.
