Henry Allan (painter)

Henry Allan (June 18, 18651912) was an Irish painter.

Allan was born June 18, 1865, at Retreat House, Dundalk, County Louth, the youngest son of William Allan and his wife Anne. He studied art in Belfast and Dublin, and continued his education in Antwerp alongside contemporary Richard Moynan. He won multiple prizes at the Antwerp Academy as well as the Taylor prize at the R.D.S. He began exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1889 with a painting entitled Country Road near Antwerp. Allen's work is extremely rare on the market today.[1]
