Hengchun Airport

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hengchun Airport (traditional Chinese: 恆春機場) (IATA: HCN) is an airport in Hengchun, Pingtung County, Taiwan. The airport is near Kenting National Park and is the southern-most airport in Taiwan.

Due to its location, the airport often experiences strong Katabatic wind and is forced to close. Because of this, the load factor of the flights rarely exceeds 40%; airlines are considering to file application for withdrawing services to Hengchun.[1]

[edit] Airlines and destinations

As of September 2007, only Uni Air serves a single destination to Taipei Songshan Airport. Mandarin Airlines and TransAsia Airways also ever served this route before but finally dropped out due to poor load factor and Hengchun Peninsular's seasonal strong winds which make landing and take off dangerous.
