Hemignathini is the largest tribe in the entire subfamily of Drepanidae. It mostly contains the Creepers, the extinct Akialoas, Amakihi, and extinct Nukupu'us. This group is made up of insectivores with long bills. However several of them may take nectar from plants. The Akialoa and the Nukupu'u that existed on many of the islands had disappeared between the 1800s to late 20th century.
