Talk:Helicos Biosciences Corporation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have just created a page for Helicos Biosciences Corporation, and was truthfully was hoping I could have a bit of guidance as to what I can do to make it more encyclopedic. I tried to be as neutral as I could when crafting this piece, and everything I've discussed throughout the body can be substantiated. Should I be linking/citing differently or choose different phrasing?
I visited the Wikipedia page for "Writing Your First Article", but unfortunately everything on that page has been deleted. I would love to change this entry to that it is better aligned with the mission of Wikipedia, and will make edits accordingly.

- Welcome! I'm not sure which Wikipedia article you're referring to. Wikipedia:Article development may or may not be a good substitute. The thing is that this article screams of "spam." On account of being a publicly-traded company, I'd argue that this article is definitely notable enough to remain, and just needs to be reworked to not come across as if it's spam, which I don't think this was the intent. - I've revised it a bit, though I'm not entirely pleased with my work. Note that I removed, in whole, some sections that I think were most problematic in terms of neutrality: a Board of Directors discussion on a company that isn't something like Pixar, seems potentially out of place, for example. I also removed all the inline links, and replaced them with a single link to the company's site at the end. Note that I have a hunch you may work for the company. I'm not familiar enough with the policies to be sure if it's strictly verboten, but it may well constitute a conflict of interest for you to contribute to the article. Even when you try to be neutral, as I trust you did, it's very hard to actually do it. Fogster (talk) 01:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
