Under the "Achievements" paragraph, it states Willenbrock is the most well known of the Aces of the Deep. Is this accurate? I for one became aware of Kretschmer and Topp long before Willenbrock...(ps - i'm not trying to deny his legacy, just wondering about accuracy :)....Engr105th 05:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I'd agree to that statement requiring a firm cite. Altough Das Boot is quite famous, few people who've only read the book or seen the film will connect it to Lehmnan-Willenbrock. For me to the most famous would probably be Kretschmer, but as this is purely personal I'd say remove it.Abel29a 07:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Concur...Now that I think about it (and not knowing who wrote the article) it occurs to me Willenbrock might be the best known in Germany; whereas Kretschmer would be more known in the US and maybe Britain due to his capture which was unusual and well publicized if I recall right (at a time when we needed success stories; early 1941)...Wonder if that difference has anything to do with it...Engr105th 02:46, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Seeing no other objection/discussion about Willenbrock's fame, I am removing the last sentence of the "Achievements" paragraph (it states "Although he wasn't the greatest among the Aces of the Deep, he is perhaps the most well-known of the ten."). It seems to be based on the film Das Boot, which never mentions his exact name. Engr105th (talk) 19:42, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
