[edit] Irony?

"This motet rather ironically compares the Pope to a shepherd capable of soothing all of his flock and binding them together; Martin Luther was to commence the Protestant Reformation several years after its composition." Where is the irony here? Is it the text of the motet which is ironic, or the fact that Luther began the reformation shortly afterwards? Not very clear. Zeisseng (talk) 08:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
