I believe this article is notable as it was tagged in the Irish Literature article. Some users may be ambiguous as to what a hedge school implies in the irish literary tradition.

This article doesn't even pick up on the fact that hedge schools emerged in response to the Penal Laws that were meant to subjugate, demoralize, and Anglicize Ireland. The Penal Laws made it so that no Catholic could teach in school.
