[edit] Establishing notability
Well, you can start by reading the guidelines for companies. In there you will find a number of criterion sufficient to establish the notability of the company-- from there, find which apply to WorldQuant, find a reliable source to support the claim, and voila! Coren 04:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok what would be considered a "reliable source"?
-
- You need but follow the link above, or WP:RS. Basically, it's an book, news article, encyclopedia (but not Wikipedia) entry, reference, etc that is distinct and independent from the article's topic (for instance, marketing material published by or for the company does not qualify).
-
- The coverage must also normally be non-trivial. That means simple mention in passing in a news article, reprint of a press release, or an entry in a directory (online or otherwise) is usually not enough. Coren 14:27, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Can someone in the industry verify the information?
- the article is actually similar to this entry here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_shaw
-
- Actually, De shaw is indeed an excellent example; take a look at the references section, and you'll get a very good idea of what is needed to establish notability.
-
- By the way, please sign your comments on talk pages (like this one) by adding four tildes (like this: ~~~~) at the end of your messages. Those get transformed into a link to your userpage and the time and date; this makes sure your comments are dated and properly attributed. Coren 16:27, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
