Chris Evans (born 1967) is a British artist. He works in various media, including video, sculpture, air-brush painting and installation.

[edit] Personal Life

Chris Evans was born in Eastrington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. He lived and worked in Glasgow before moving first to Amsterdam on a Scottish Arts Council residency and then to Berlin where he is currently based.

[edit] Career

In 2005—2006 his work was included in the The Hayward's touring exhibition, 'British Art Show 6', curated by Andrea Schlieker and Alex Farquharson. For this exhibition, Chris Evans showed 'Radical Loyalty' (2004 — ongoing); maquettes and prints relating to a sculpture park he will be building in a small town in central Estonia. The sculptures have been created through consultation with an alliance of Directors from international corporations such as Starbucks UK, DaimlerChrysler and TeliaSonera. Evans asked each Director to respond to their feelings about loyalty and to define how their perspectives could be seen as being radical. The prints and sculpture maquettes will be used to assist a collective of elderly Estonian artists - those responsible for building the country's monuments during the era of Soviet occupation - and it is anticipated that the park will be built in 2007.

His other work includes 'Cop Talk' (2005—ongoing) where the artist has been arranging recruitment talks, given by representatives of local police forces, at art colleges throughout Europe; and 'Militant Bourgeois: An Existentialist Retreat' (2006) set up in Amsterdam as a boot-camp for over-subsidized Dutch artists.
