Finding nothing about this important NASA space astronomy satellite series, I have included some basic information with a minimum of references. I was involved in HEAO 1 and HEAO 3, so I have trusted my memory for the basics, but much more information would be very welcome, especially about scientific output obtained and significance of each. Further information about the individual spacecraft can be found for the separate missions, especially HEAO 3, and a little for HEAO 2, but very little for HEAO 1. Anyhow, hope this is a start to build on. There are still lots of people around who worked on these missions.

[edit] High Energy Astronomy Observatory Program

The titles of the articles are actually incorrect, as it was really officially Astronomy, not Astrophysics. Google finds 34,000+ hits on the correct phrase, only 1,500 on the other. Probably "HEAO Program", HEAO 1, HEAO 2, and HEAO 3 should be the primary titles of the articles to save typing. Wwheaton (talk) 23:40, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
