Heather Simpson (née McGinty) is a reporter and newsreader on Scotland Today, the news programme shown on STV Central.
After studying English at university, Simpson worked for CSV Media, helping to produce a number of community programming. During her time at CSV, she joined Scottish Television on a work experience placement for the regional programme, Wheel Nuts. After joining the station permanently, she regularly presented short bulletins and was a reporter for the current affairs programme Seven Days.
Simpson usually presents Scotland Today's West news opt-out, job-sharing with Louise White. Heather has also anchored the main programme when John MacKay and Louise White have been unavailable. She is also a stand-in presenter/producer for Scotland Today's video blog, (Not) The Real MacKay.
Simpson is currently on maternity leave and is due to return to STV Central later in the year.
