The Heartland Light Rail System is a future light rail system that will serve the Kansas City metropolitan area. It gained approval by voters in a November 2006 ballot measure [1]. However, there are several hurdles to constructing the system. For example, the proposed rail system lies in several cities and towns that have not approved inclusion in the light rail plan [2].
