The studio was started in 2000 by Jeremy Wellard, a video game designer from the UK who formally worked for Audiogenic and Codemasters. It is located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
HB grew to 120 people by March 2008 and are currently at work on multiple projects, 4 for EA Canada (Two are NHL 09 and NBA 09 while two others are untitled) as well as several of their own products including Big Beach Sports which will be published by THQ.
HB Studios opened the doors to their second studio in January 2008. It is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia which is the largest city in Atlantic Canada.
