Haynes Educational Center

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The LeRoy Haynes Center for Children and Family Services is a residential treatment facility and private school in La Verne, California.

It was created by Mr. Leroy Haynes, dedicated to aiding boys with social problems and mental disorders. Now, girls are accepted but most go to the David & Margaret Home. Students can attend while living at home, or live on campus.

While it's in a quiet city, the school is not very quiet. Students may become frustrated and "blow out", or become disruptive. Staff must constantly go through training to make sure that they can restrain the disruptive student quickly and efficiently, while causing as little harm as possible. When a student is restrained, he or she is either sent to Prevention, which is a class similar to detention, or the PSR or Personal Safety room, which is a padded room, depending on how bad their behavior was and whether the staff think he/she can cope with other kids at the time.
