Kudos to Wikipedia for making such an excellent user interface!
Motto: There are, in my opinion, no good reasons for not including the research of good academical scholarship when writing an article about a controversial subject or issue. This also includes the different viewpoints within the academical debate regarding the controversial issue. This is not to say that all profound knowledge is academic, it is not, but for the sake of clarity and integrity, and the welfare of the reader, it is sensible to include relevant scholarship.
