[edit] Plot

The film stars Saskia Burmeister, as Erica "Yuk" Yurken, an adolescent brunette who fantasises about a better life and stardom; and Delta Goodrem as her school rival Alison Ashley, the girl with the three Bs, Beauty, Brains and her mum drives a BMW.

At school, Erica is not that popular. She sits alone in class but when Alison arrives, it all changes. Erica at first is desperate to be Alison's friends but soon changes her mind, and they become rivals.

They continuously have arguments throughout the year, but eventually become friends at camp when Erica discovers that Alison doesn't exactly live the life perfect she thought she did.

[edit] Box office

The movie performed very poorly at the box office. It debuted at #4 on the Australian box office charts but earned less than $2 million despite being based on a successful book and screening in 180 Australian cinemas during the Easter holidays. While Hating Alison Ashley was seen by 60,000 people in its first weekend, takings dropped 28 per cent the following week, suggesting that word of mouth was rather negative.[1] Saskia Burmeister won a few good notices for her performance.
