Adam Laurie was born in Humble, TX in 1982. During his youth he attended school at Elm Grove Elementary, Kingwood Middle School, Kingwood High School, and the University of North Texas respectively. It was while attending school at the University of North Texas that he began his work as an amateur comedian and recording artist. Initially, Adam had been a member of a high school band that saw its end when Adam decided the groups' dedication and work ethic were unconducive to becoming a financially self-sufficient organization. Eager to continue his growth onward in the entertainment field he began piecing together small trios and quartets while attending school. Unfortunately, none of the small time bands and small time gigs seemed to be progressing his career in the entertainment world. Realizing he must make a name for himself on his own before he would be taken seriously by truly successful musicians he decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy around the Denton, TX area. Almost immediately he began to see great success in this field and even began performing along side other major North Texas acts like: Gus Landy (real name: Gregory Troutman), Merv Jackson (real name: Jason Nix), and Veronica Johnson. Through working with Jackson (Nix) specifically he met with Jase Davila, Adrian Garcia, and Ana Jaldon and formed the group "Upsmack the Chickenfoot" in early 2003. After touring through primarily the North Texas and South Louisiana areas for almost a year the band decided to drop the name due to confusion about its meaning and just continue touring with Adam's name being the title. Since 2003 they have made a name for themselves in the Texas, Louisiana, Massachusettes, and surrounding New England areas playing their original mix of what has only been described as "...yiddish sounds meets grunge hardcore..."
