Hi, I'm Harry Zilber and I've been an active user and minor editor of Wikipedia since about 2003. My background is aerospace engineering and quality assurance, but I've accomplished edits to a variety of articles.

I see Wikipedia as a seminal accomplishment for the Internet and society as a whole. This is because it allows disparate people from around the world with multitudes of differing interests to gather and distribute knowledge collaboratively. As I once wrote in Globe & Mail article comment on Google's Knol project:

....There are two essential desirables to the information lay people want to access: quality (freedom from bias, accuracy, insight, readability, etc....) and quantity (breath of subjects/topics and depth within each particular subject). Britannica is frequently sited as the gold standard of encyclopedic quality, while few people will dispute that Wikipedia has the largest reservoir of encyclopedic content which makes it a very common and convenient one-stop shop for casual information searches and other types of research (to give them their due, many Wikipedia articles don't slouch on quality either).....

So here's to the world's largest reservoir of encyclopedic content, which will one day rival Britannica quality!
