[edit] Core concepts

Dungeons & Dragons has introduced a number of pantheons and cosmologies across the various campaign settings that have been released since the game's introduction in the mid 1970s. Some themes, however, remain relatively constant. Planes of existance exist, outside of the primary world in which the action takes place. This primary world is often called the Prime Material Plane, and may exist within a multiverse of parallel planes.
