[edit] retirement rank?

I think there is a mistake, or Harry Welsh did retired as a "Lieutenant Colonel"? -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.64.200.125 (talk • contribs)

You're thinking of Ronald Spears. Welsh left the Army after he accumulated enough points. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.45.66.201 (talk) 17:41, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WWII Section

The World War II section is nothing more than a summary of the Band of Brothers mini-series which may or may not be historically accurate. It offers no real substance. Did Welsh really steal Nazi silverware or was it done for Hollywood purposes? When reporting things like these, the Band of Brothers book and not the movie should be cited. --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 07:58, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

It would be nice if "factual" information is added instead of a summary of an episode of a mini-series. Case in point, Welsh was no longer in Easy Company by the time Bastogne came. [1] --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 18:49, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Actually after Bastogne, Welsh served as Easy Company's XO (executive officer) -—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.229.244 (talkcontribs)

[edit] inappropriate biography?

This article should be deleted. Why? Wikipedia 'is not it's a personal biography page' (that is official policy) and it is obvious that the author of this article is writing it partially because of the fact he is a relative of Mr. Welsh, as he has acess to private oral histories, and also, Mr. Welsh would not be considered of historical significance if not for a recent historically based movie in which he is portrayed. TaylorSAllen 03:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

That is an utterly absurd and baseless charge brought by an editor who has made no real contribution to Wikipedia. ---Charles 14:47, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Tell me how I'm wrong then. If you can show me one bit if illogicality in that statement, than consider it revoked. TS Allen (taylorsallen@gmail.com)

TS, remember WP:AGF. I would expect that everything in this article could easily have appeared in his obituary, which wouldn't require the original author (an unregistered IP user) to have been a relative. I am no relative of Mr. Welsh and I think you will find that few of the Wikipedia biographers of other Easy Company men are family members either. If you wish to challenge the article based on verifiability or notability, please do so without accusing editors of acting in bad faith. --Habap 14:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

What I am questioning is if this is relevant to anything that should be present on Wikipedia. Band of Brothers may be interesting, but this charachter is only notable because of a dramatized portrayal of him by an actor. How is high notable, in any manner, beyond his characther? I can understand major charachters in the series, but no every single private. I am only challenging notability, and how on earth does someone without at least knowing the person, check the definition of oral history. Finally, just to note, I have been fixing the WWI and WWII sections up anonymously for a few years now, the only thing negative I have done is to help drive the WWII page to it's to long marking. Glad you're contributing. If you feel Welsh is not notable, submit the article for deletion. Lt Welsh's character was far from being an anonymous private in the company, either in the book or the series, so I would disagree with your assessment of how important he is in the series. Wikipedia:Notability (people) should provide a good basis for the AfD entry. --Habap 15:17, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
