[edit] Proper Name
Wheres the evidence that the "proper name" is Mediobogdum ? The Ordnance Survey's 1:25 000 map names it as Hardknott Castle Roman Fort as do all guide books. I've never heard anybody call it Mediobogdum in all the time I've visited the Lake District. Mick Knapton 19:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- The OS's Landranger maps show its ancient name as "MEDIOBOGDVM" (V=>U of course). Direct link to OS Getamap I'm not sure I'd agree that this is the appropriate name for this article however, and such a change should have been discussed. Halsteadk 19:42, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Mediobogdum is the name the Romans knew it by. The Ravenna Comsmology refers to a fort called Mediobogdum between the forts of Galava (Ambleside) and Glannoventa (Ravenglass). "Hardknott Fort" is the only one which fits the bill. Lianachan 22:02, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
