[edit] Current status

Over two thousand five hundred and twenty two high school students [2,523] are currently in attendance at Jacobs High School, causing major construction and addition modifications to the school to occur. The new construction [completion date September, 2007] will add new classrooms, media/library center, competition field house and central offices for the faculty. The new construction was needed to accommodate both the large number of current students and staff and the expected influx of new students in approaching years.

[edit] Scheduling

Jacobs follows the 4 X 4 Intensified Block scheduling system as opposed to a traditional class scheduling system. Students surpass most traditional high school credit totals because students can earn up to 132 high school credits upon graduation. Students attending Jacobs have three to four classes per day, each of a ninety minute duration (with 5.342 additional minutes attached to second block for daily announcements), with a forty minute 'Flex Block' designed for students to eat lunch in addition to acting as an interim resource class. 'Flex-Block' allows students to participate in a plethora of clubs and activities during the school day or to just hang out with friends.
